Hello again! So sorry for the lack of blog updating, I have been a little busy around here! I still feel like I am adjusting to being home and taking care of everything around the house and Hayley. I am really trying to find the balance of when to cook dinner, pack Dan's lunch, clean the house and take care of Stella around Hayley's eating/sleeping/diaper changing schedule. It gets a little hectic. Well, enough about me for now, onto Hayley and her 1 month update!
Here is what happened in her first month of life:
She was born (Surprise)
She weighed 9.6 ounces when she was born and was down to 8.7 when we left the hospital (the doctors were all worried, but surprisingly, we weren't) The nurses tried to push us to feed her formula, but we refused (thankfully).
We got to go home on Thursday, April 5th, and by her 1 week check up and weight check she had gained all the weight back and then some, weighing in at 9.8 ounces.
She got to meet Stella, and Stella LOVES Hayley. Hayley is still not too sure.
Hayley absolutely loves to eat, and eats a ton quickly, therefore feeding never takes more than 15 minutes - ever
She has been sleeping in her crib, in her own room, since the first night we got home.
For the first two weeks Hayley slept 3-4 hour a night stretches and for the last two weeks she has been treating us with sleeping 6-7 hour stretches at night
She has been in cloth diapers since the black poo ended. She started off with newborn cloth diapers and then transitioned after about 2 weeks into the "one size" cloth diapers. Just a note, most babies don't fit into these until they are 3-4 months along.......
She loves tummy time for about 3-5 minutes, then she is over it and will let you know!
Hayley had her first cold :(. It was the saddest thing I have ever seen. She didn't know how to make herself breathe out of her mouth so she sounded very similar to Darth Vader. Poor baby. Her cold lasted almost a full two weeks. It was awful!
Her grandparents came to visit for a few days! Yipee
She is really loud when she is filling her diaper. She even decided to do that during prayer at church and had everyone around us laughing (sorry pastor Joe)
I have been told by multiple people that she cries like a 3 month old. I'm starting to think they were a couple months off on my due date...are you seeing a pattern here?
She maybe wore her newborn clothing for 2-3 days, and then I had to transition her to her 3 month clothes.
She has the most beautiful smile I have ever seen, yet I can't seem to catch it on camera!
Needless to say we have been busy learning all of the cool things about this girl. She really does amaze me and make me laugh every single day! Here is a photo of her one month photo shoot. This was literally minutes before projectile vomiting all over Mallory.....sorry again for that Mal, but what are aunts for?!?!

Here is a video of Stella meeting Hayley for the first time. Thank you Ben for filming for us, and thank you Kirrin for the idea! We had also heard that giving your dog a toy that smells like the baby is a good idea. Well, Stella devoured that kong within minutes.
*Hayley is now 6 weeks old (sooooo late on the posting, sorry) so much of this info has changed. It's like babies change all the time or something :). I will try to be more prompt on the postings.*
She is beautiful!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow adorable. I love all the little details! I hope we can come visit soon.
