What an adventurous little girl we have on our hands!

This month Hayley started to crawl..it isn't much of a crawl, but instead we call it her "wounded soldier crawl"
The first food she decided she didn't like was asparagus...but then tried it again a few days later and she gobbled it right up
She had croup for the first time :(
She weighs 21 1/2 pounds (found out while at the doctor)
She didn't really get to enjoy her first Thanksgiving because she was sick...but she did get to spend time being baby sat by both Grandpas and Uncle Quincy (three men and a baby?!)
Hayley bonked her mouth twice, two consecutive days and started bleeding......UGH...that was SO hard for me.
I love making her laugh...she has the best laugh :)
She started shaking her head "no"
She has 4 teeth. The two middle bottom ones, and then two on the top left..but not the top two right...look in the video, you will see what I mean :)
She growls and waves All. The. Time.

Now, we all love chubby little baby legs....the squeezable, kissable, rolls upon rolls of amazingness, who can deny sweet legs like that? I am so blessed to have a wonderfully filled out baby with rolls that go for miles. I have pinched and kissed every single one of them, multiple times. They are just so squishy! However, there is only one itsy bitsy, teeny tiny issue associated with all that cuteness; pants just don't fit. I have purchased and returned pair after pair attempting to get something that doesn't suffocate those beautiful mounds of flesh. I seemed to fail countless times, praying that my daughter would just learn to crawl, so that her legs would thin out and she would be able to strut her stuff in a draw dropping pair of skinny jeans. It was this moment of desperation, when I found BABY LEGS.....hello coolest chubby baby/cloth diapering invention EVER!

Baby Legs are a brand of baby leg warmers. They are not the only brand, there are My Little Legs and TONS of different ones on etsy, like here and here. They are basically everywhere. Before having a baby, and having issues with pants that chose not to be sized proportionally to my baby, I had no idea about these beautiful little creations. I now have to say that most of Hayley's wardrobe consists of some form of baby leg warmers (I have all different brands and they all work wonderfully). They are pretty inexpensive (way cheaper than pants) they are functional by covering her legs, I can pull them down to cover her feet, and they are cute to accessorize an outfit with while still showing off the adorable cloth diaper (instead of covering it up with pants). The most important thing about them is that they stay up and I'm not having to constantly hike them up. What can I say, I LOVE THEM!!! I don't know what Hayley would wear outside in colder weather, or inside while she is crawling if it weren't for these beauties. Now for some pictures of the amazing items in action!
+ She thinks her mom is the funniest person ever (and let's be real, I totally am)
+ She has started noticing when mom is not around, and will sometimes fuss if I'm not in sight
+ Hayley is waving hello and goodbye (she did this for the first time to Maggie)
+ Stella scratched and bruised her, these were here first boo boos :(.
In all fairness, Stella was just super excited and was running laps
around the house and ran into Hayley, it was definitely not
intentional..and you could tell Stella felt really bad
+ She actually started jumping in her Jenny Jump Up, instead of just hanging out there
+ Nodding her head yes has started, which makes for a lot of fun questions :)
+ Hayley and I went on the women's retreat with our church
+ She is sitting super well and loves to play with all of her toys
+ Hayley received her first "negative" review from MOPS nursery. They
said she was angry when she was trying to fall asleep. That's my little
sleep fighter
+ She is trying solids like CRAZY and seems to love avocado the best
+ She smiles all. The. Time.
+ Her personality is so sweet and happy (except for sleeping at MOPS I guess hehe)

This update is short, sweet, and late! :)

Before having Hayley, I was one of those people that NEEDED my 8 hours of sleep a night just to function. If I had less than that, it was noticeable to me, and probably everyone around me. When I was working, I loved the feeling of waking up just minutes before my alarm went off. I knew I was well rested and that I was ready to be up. It was great. Since having Hayley, many things have changed......including my above mentioned 8 hours of sleep. No thank you.

When Hayley was a newborn, until she was about three months old she slept SO well, and consequently, I did too. When people would comment on how little sleep you get when they are in the newborn stage, I would kick back and think, "well, good thing I have the world's greatest newborn." I was constantly rested. I had a baby that slept amazingly, and a husband that constantly helped out. It was a breeze! Then......three months hit.......

Hayley has never been a cranky baby, and she takes teething like a champ (no clue when she has been teething until her little teeth poke through), however she started gradually waking up more at night to eat. She went from one night waking, to two, to three, and at one point, she wanted to be up nursing four times. EXCUSE ME?!?! DID YOU NOT READ THE SAME MANUAL I DID???????? Babies are supposed to start out hard and get easier....RIGHT??? Oh, how wrong I was. Hayley decided that four night wakings was about accurate for how much she wanted to eat and maintain her 98th percentile figure.

About a month into her waking up this much, and I was exhausted. I didn't realize just how tired I was, until Daniel caught me sleep walking. Yup, when I'm overly tired, I sleep walk. Creepy right? Not so creepy for me....probably for Dan...but he might be semi used to it by now. Anyway, I knew I needed to change something...I didn't know how, or what...but something. I am part of this online group that is supposed to be about cloth diapers, but we chat about basically everything...it's great. Someone recommended a book called The Sleep Lady's Good Night Sleep Tight by Kim West. I was desperate, so I bought it. This book was great. I used it as a guide, not a Bible...I used some techniques, and ignored others.

My philosophy with attempting to get Hayley to sleep during the night was to keep her up as much during the day as I could (sorry for those of you wincing and wondering how I ever decided to parent a child). It made sense to me. I know if I take a nap during the day, I'm less likely to sleep well at night. Oh my, was I wrong. The book mentioned that babies that are Hayley's age (7 months now) need 1 1/2 to 2 hour naps in both the morning AND afternoon, and possibly a third one hour nap late afternoon. I was floored. Here was Hayley, that maybe took three 20-30 min naps a day, and you want me to force her to take two looooooong naps, at least?? I was certain that she would be mixing her days a nights up...but I gave it a try.

That day I drove out to Lowe's and picked up some black out shades, installed them, and geared Hayley up for her two longest naps since she was a newborn. I did what the book said....I followed some of her techniques, and Hayley took every minute of each of those two hour naps. Amazing right? I was shocked, but in the back of my mind, I knew she would be up all night because of it. I dreaded bedtime (which was usually between 8 and 9), the book said bedtime is best between 7 and 7:30.....so I tried it. Hayley went down perfectly.....I'm sorry, but how is she still tired? She slept a crazy amount and now is ready for bed at 7.......weird.........

I had gone to bed a bit later and was ready for Hayley to wake up and be up all night crying. I knew it was coming. THANKFULLY, I was wrong. She slept like a champ and only kept me awake a little while. She was used to being nursed four times a night, and I took it down to nothing in just one night. Yes she cried, but she didn't get hysterical, and I was there with her the whole time (I just can't do the cry it out, which is why I love this book).

Fast forward four days and she went from waking up so often to only waking up ONCE for a pacifier insertion (and going back to sleep without any hesitation). I call that success. I also feel amazingly well rested now, and I kind of forgot how that felt.

Hopefully it will be a long time until my husband finds me sleep walking again ;)
I dressed Hayley up, we had some trick or treaters, and then the three of us headed to our friends' church over in West Salem. It was fun, and perfect...except I bought way to much candy...that I am currently eating....

It turned out amazing. I'm not bragging, it turned out amazing because my friend Ashley (over at our celebrated life) did basically ALL the ground work. She mapped it all out for me, sewed it and figured out how to attach all of it. The only things I brought to her house were the materials and pictures online of what I wanted it to look like (see those here). Ashley is uh maze ing.....for real...that girl can sew anything and make it look fabulous. You should check out her twins' nursery pictures. She made her own slip cover for a rocking chair, while pregnant with twins. I know.

Once we (cough...Ashley) had sewn everything together, I basically just
hot glued peacock feathers onto what she sewed...that was the fun part!
I paired her feather contraption with a onsie that I found at J.C.
Penny and some leggings I found at Gymboree and Hayley was a glorified
peacock.

One of my favorite pieces of Hayley's ensemble was the beautiful headband that was crafted by Crafty Mom's Corner over on good ol' facebook. Mallory made it perfectly to order and I absolutely adored it!!! Hayley also found the headband to be quite intriguing. She did not want to leave it alone at all :)

Now, for all the pictures....I have had LOTS of people (ok three) ask me
for pictures of her whole outfit...so, here it is! Enjoy!
Hayley is growing SO MUCH...it's crazy. I have loved seeing her little personality develop so much and we are so blessed to be able to call her our daughter!
Here is what Hayley has been up to:
She has been eating and loving trying new solid foods. Every time she tries one it's always an interesting face. She isn't sure what to make of the texture yet.
She moved from her car seat to the big stroller seat!
Hayley giggles every time Stella runs after a ball
We left her for the looooongest time yet (9 hrs), it was HARD, but I knew she was well taken care of!
Her hair started growing back in!
She has started to reach out for us to pick her up, which is great

She had her first two teeth come in, I had no idea they were coming in until she bit my finger! I hope this continues and that she is just a good teether!

I seriously can't get over how much I love this little girl! So sweet!

Also, my intent was to get all of her pictures laying down to be able to compare size. Here is a math story problem for you:
Wiggly baby + Nosy Dog + Awful Natural Lighting = No such thing as laying down photos. So, we sit from here on out!

And because you are all DYING for more pictures and videos, I guess I'll attach a few (ok, so maybe this only applies to Sue and Heather, but I love them, and I think Hayley is the coolest baby ever, so I'm doin it)

Sometimes...... your daughter wakes up WAYYYY before she should...in which you attempt to put her back to sleep, and not moments before you fall back to sleep yourself....your dog wakes both of you up....

Sometimes.....you get your buns to church ONLY because you need a break from said dog and daughter....

Sometimes...that church service is when God speaks to you very loudly through the service and worship (soooooooo thankful I went)

Sometimes....you take your daughter downtown to go shopping because you are exhausted, and hadn't done that together since you had her.... and it sounded fun.....very important.

Sometimes...you walk all the way across the mall to get to the Nordstrom bathroom to feed and change your baby, because all other mall bathrooms are kind of gnarly

Sometimes....you find the perfect pair of cable knit tights for your daughter (exactly what you were envisioning) and they only come in "I'm going to squeeze the crap out of your daughter's legs" or "hello baggy bums"....and then you ask the clerk if they have the middle size....and she responds..."if we did, we would have put it out before you asked". Oh, really.......I guess I forgot you were perfect.......

Sometimes....you see a MASSIVE bug and you scream at your dog "GET IT, GET IT" because said husband is at work....then your dog runs around and barks because she can't see it.....so you knock it down off of the ceiling *how exactly was Stella supposed to get that* and start to panic and then your dog saves the day.....dog has been redeemed from above statement.

Sometimes....your daughter takes a 2 hour nap....in which you can't possibly figure out how to fall asleep yourself....and you lay there for two hours thinking, "I REALLY need to be sleeping" and about the time you have convinced your body to sleep, you get a text message.......

Sometimes....you feed your daughter sweet potatoes and she cries the entire time

Sometimes....you have to feed yourself before you get food for your dog

Sometimes....you try sour cream because it is in your fridge...and you realize you like it.....and you might put it on more items......and then you think...."what else am I missing out on that I 'don't like?'"

Sometimes.....you can't ever figure out if your child is squealing and trying out her cool, different voices, or if she's mad....you proceed as though she is experimenting

Sometimes..... your daughter prefers to play with anything that ISN'T a toy...go figure

Sometimes.....you are putting your child to sleep and realize there is a big blob of sweet potato in her hair....and then you think...bath, ignore, or clean with a wipe......you proceed with a wipe......

Sometimes...you have to blog your day instead of folding a putting away the mounds of laundry, and doing the amazing amount of dishes..

It's been one of those days........
Hayley turned 5 months on September 2nd......you should just start to expect late posts.....then if they are ever on time, it will be a pleasant suprise :)

I can't believe she is almost half a year old. I know everyone says "it will go so quick"...but you never really think it will. Well, it does. I have loved every stage, but boy, this one is fun. She loves to move and kick and touch and grab....but yet she can't crawl...hehe.....so fun :)

Hayley is doing so much:
She got up on her knees for a while (she will only do it when she's naked...go figure)
Hayley started sleeping in longer and now I don't have to change her diaper throughtout the night.
Right after she started sleeping in longer she decided to start waking up every couple hours (yikes), but at least it only lasted a few weeks. I was TIRED.........
She is rolling a TON and all over the place
Her grandpa (my dad) bought her an aweosme train set and plane from a garage sale - LOVE THEM
She laughs everytime Stella licks her
She is SITTING...crazy times
Hayley also started STANDING while holding on to objects
She spent the longest time away from me while we were in a wedding. Luckily, she has some amazing grandparents that watched her (Daniel's parents)
We gave her a first bite of "solid" foods
She is now reaching out and interacting with Stella constantly
We tried to put her in all natural disposables for our trip, but alas, she is a cloth only girl...massive rash :(
She is a beyond flexible sleeper. She fell asleep in a pack n play, in Eden's room, while Josh and Dan were moving furniture out.....she must get that from Dan....
Everyone says she's advanced, but I don't know anything different, I serioulsy just think they were a month off on my due date...just sayin
We went on a hike around Silver Falls, and she was awake and alert the whole time!
She is BEAUTIFUL!
Hayley is now 4 months old....that just seems crazy to me. I feel like we just had her!! She is learning so many new things, and really starting to get strong. Makes me a little nervous for the events lingering in the near future (crawling, walking, running, etc.).

Hayley Now:
Sits and stands up with assitance
Spits up less
Has NO sleeping schedule, sometimes she will sleep through the night and sometimes she wakes up every three hours.....keeping us on our toes already......
Giggles constantly and I love it :)
Chews on her toes...oh to be flexible.....just a few months ago I couldn't even see my toes.....
Holds toys intentionally....not just an accidentally got it stuck on my hand type of deal
Pulls hair/earrings/available facial features like crazy
Rolls from front to back and back to front constantly
Loves to fly in the air
Giggles when tickled
Is intrigued by toys....especially the ones that make noise.......(grandma/Debbie, I now have that entire bear song memorized...thanks a lot.... ;-)

Hayley Still:
Loves bath time
Enjoys being naked
Gets a huge grin on her face when daddy comes home
Is amused with Stella
Falls asleep in the car
Loves my signing....seriously, this one confuses me.
Drools a TON

WOWZERS - THIS IS LATE, but don't you worry, the picture was ACTUALLY taken when she turned 3 months!!!
Well, we've been out having fun :) Miss Hayley is learning all sorts of new things, and I LOVE it.

Here is what she's up to.....

She loves noise
She went swimming again
She rolled over click here to see it!
She makes some pretty incredible monkey noises
She has fully figured out how to giggle and I LOVE it
She spits up constantly, and usually on someone, oops
At 2.5 months she was 14lbs 10oz
She loves getting her bum pinched
Being naked is her favorite thing
She has really expressive eyes
She loves eating all. the. time
She loves wearing sunglasses
She smiles a ton and it's GREAT
She kisses you with a wide open mouth
She met her aunt Heather and uncle Quincy
She loves bath time and loves splashing
If I'm cooking, she's in her high chair
She is getting antsy during church
I absolutely love her personality!
She drools on everything, literally
She loves her teething toy Sophie
Traveling with her is pretty easy
She has really loud farts/poops
She smiles when Stella kisses her, most of the time
The first time she met aunt Heather she spit up
She still only wakes up once a night (mostly)
She falls asleep with a smile, no joke
She is in 6-9 month clothing!
She's enjoying "talking"

I never knew you could love a baby so much, she is so perfect for us. I seriously can't get over how much I love that little face :)
Hayley rolled over this week, and we got a cute one of her making monkey noises. Two things when you watch the video: ignore my unnaturally high voice, and know that we do not actually think Hayley understands what a monkey is, it's just cute :)

2 Months!
Well, we have all survived the first two months of infancy, and let me tell you, it has been a crazy ride. It just amazes me how much personality a newborn can actually have. I had absolutely NO clue. I feel like when you hold newborns, before having your own, they are just sleeping or crying, and it doesn't really feel like a little human because they aren't communicating (so I thought). But, having my own newborn puts a whole new spin on things. Hayley has some definite likes and dislikes, and she makes it VERY known when she is not happy with something. This second month of life really had a lot of firsts for Hayley, and I am very excited to share them with you all!

Hayley's Firsts

Hayley visited my school and met my entire class (both of them) outside (less germs), and the kids made a sweet banner for her.

We took our first family trip and went to Lincoln City (for our 5 year anniversary). We stayed at the Salishan, which had a swimming pool, so she went swimming for the first time.

We all drove down to the southern coast to visit our families. It is a 3 1/2 - 4 hour drive. Hayley only woke up once on the way down, and then a few times on the way back.

She got to stay at Grandma and Grandpa House's house. We all enjoyed our time there.

Hayley got to lay outside on her play mat for the first time during a BBQ in Langlois

She met her uncle Adam for the first time

Hayley was dedicated in our church

She took her first bath in a sink (other than at the hospital). It was Grandma's "swimming pool"

Hayley is getting her first tooth.....and apparently is going to get her driver's license next month......jk on the last one, but seriously, teeth already?!?!?!

Hayely had her first pacifier, and she still loves it!

Hayley's Likes

A clean diaper - this is number one because it is crazy how much she can't stand being "dirty"

Cloth diapers

Her play mat

When Daniel comes home - she will be screaming, with her eyes closed, when Daniel comes home from work, then he will say "Daddy" and she will open up her eyes and smile WIDE. I do too ;)

When I sing - and if you have ever heard me, this is a shocker because I am an awful singer

Her high chair - to watch me cook

Eating

Sleeping with her face smashed up against my neck and breathing her hot breath down my neck. I know I find this strange now, but I know I will miss it like crazy when she stops!

Baths - this girl will cry constantly and then be instantly calm when you put her in a bath. Then she is all smiles.

Drooling - lots and lots of drooling

The camera sound on my phone

Hayley's Dislikes

Sleeping - she fights naps ALL. DAY. LONG - however, she doesn't fight it at night, so I will take that as a compromise

Dirty diapers - she screams as soon as she is done making a mess

Disposable diapers - she got a nasty infection from them :( We had to use them for the first time, since the day we brought her home, when we took our trip, and she did not do well in them.

Being taken out of the bath - she is instantly upset

Her bouncer or swing, she is over that "infant stuff" :)

Stats
So as of right now, our "2 month" doctor appointment isn't for a couple more weeks (my bad with scheduling) so we are unsure of her EXACT weight and length. However, I believe she is over 13 pounds (mom stands on scale and does subtraction), but I am not sure how long she is. We shall see in a couple of weeks. She is growing like crazy. I know she is quite a bit longer because she no longer fits on my feeding pillow. Her little legs hang off of the side. It's cute, but crazy that she is growing so fast!!!
Hello again! So sorry for the lack of blog updating, I have been a little busy around here! I still feel like I am adjusting to being home and taking care of everything around the house and Hayley. I am really trying to find the balance of when to cook dinner, pack Dan's lunch, clean the house and take care of Stella around Hayley's eating/sleeping/diaper changing schedule. It gets a little hectic. Well, enough about me for now, onto Hayley and her 1 month update!
Here is what happened in her first month of life:

She was born (Surprise)

She weighed 9.6 ounces when she was born and was down to 8.7 when we left the hospital (the doctors were all worried, but surprisingly, we weren't) The nurses tried to push us to feed her formula, but we refused (thankfully).

We got to go home on Thursday, April 5th, and by her 1 week check up and weight check she had gained all the weight back and then some, weighing in at 9.8 ounces.

She got to meet Stella, and Stella LOVES Hayley. Hayley is still not too sure.

Hayley absolutely loves to eat, and eats a ton quickly, therefore feeding never takes more than 15 minutes - ever

She has been sleeping in her crib, in her own room, since the first night we got home.

For the first two weeks Hayley slept 3-4 hour a night stretches and for the last two weeks she has been treating us with sleeping 6-7 hour stretches at night

She has been in cloth diapers since the black poo ended. She started off with newborn cloth diapers and then transitioned after about 2 weeks into the "one size" cloth diapers. Just a note, most babies don't fit into these until they are 3-4 months along.......

She loves tummy time for about 3-5 minutes, then she is over it and will let you know!

Hayley had her first cold :(. It was the saddest thing I have ever seen. She didn't know how to make herself breathe out of her mouth so she sounded very similar to Darth Vader. Poor baby. Her cold lasted almost a full two weeks. It was awful!

Her grandparents came to visit for a few days! Yipee

She is really loud when she is filling her diaper. She even decided to do that during prayer at church and had everyone around us laughing (sorry pastor Joe)

I have been told by multiple people that she cries like a 3 month old. I'm starting to think they were a couple months off on my due date...are you seeing a pattern here?

She maybe wore her newborn clothing for 2-3 days, and then I had to transition her to her 3 month clothes.

She has the most beautiful smile I have ever seen, yet I can't seem to catch it on camera!

Needless to say we have been busy learning all of the cool things about this girl. She really does amaze me and make me laugh every single day! Here is a photo of her one month photo shoot. This was literally minutes before projectile vomiting all over Mallory.....sorry again for that Mal, but what are aunts for?!?!
Here is a video of Stella meeting Hayley for the first time. Thank you Ben for filming for us, and thank you Kirrin for the idea! We had also heard that giving your dog a toy that smells like the baby is a good idea. Well, Stella devoured that kong within minutes.
*Hayley is now 6 weeks old (sooooo late on the posting, sorry) so much of this info has changed. It's like babies change all the time or something :). Hello all! This is the first (yikes) blog post that I am doing! Well, I sorta take that back, I had another blog at one point in time, and it was great (the whole one time I posted), but I didn't really have much to blog about.....until now. What might it be that I have to blog about? Our beautiful little daughter, Hayley. :) I will now let the pictures do the talking.
